First off, I am a biology student, specializing in conservation, from New Zealand. As for what I am, I am not truly sure. See, I have yet to have any truly spiritually awakening experiences, though have just these nagging little details that suggest I am or could be something more, and for reasons I'll explain I think there is a chance I am a kitsune or part kitsune, though that is not the only possible explanation by far.
Having lived in New Zealand my whole life I have been isolated from foxes more or less, as not even Zoos are allowed to have foxes here. Now, that fact is a little beside the point, even if it has always struck me as weird, especially considering it was apparently to protect the local wildlife
(I'm not saying it doesn't, as foxes would have an easy time hunting here)
because looking historically people didn't start getting concerned about conservation here till a hundred years after that law was made and had brought in much worse things to the country.
Still, as I mentioned earlier, there have always been these little hints. I have always been able to relate to animals more easily than with humans, except for dogs, which I have always been scared off even though they never so much as bark at me. I was best with cats to begin with, though that is hardly surprising. I never really fitted in, completely lacking color coordination and often having trouble relating to myself, having serious amounts of trouble knowing what I was thinking or feeling, as if I was watching my life in the third person constantly. Luckily I've almost gotten completely over that last part, though colors still seem wrong to me as if my soul is not used to perceiving them. Still my mind always has be great at doing mathematics, to the point I was always getting into trouble for knowing answers to problems as soon as I got them though never knowing how I got to the answer.
What really sparked my suspicion was quite some time ago, one day while camping I picked up a toast pyramid (Put bread on the four sides over a small fire to make toast) and carried it over a hundred meters to put away due to it being a big scouting camp. The thing was a friend chased me as I took it and demanded I drop it in a bucket of water because it was still hot. When I did, the water in the bucket steamed and hissed a bit, meaning the metal was reasonably hot, yet I had felt no pain and didn't get burnt at all. Since then I have tried some experiments, and I do seem to be resistant to burns and pain from heat, though when the metal starts glowing red or hotter it is hot enough to still burn me a little. Oddly enough, I still hate hot summer days due tot he heat and still get sun burnt.
It was after that I saw my first picture of a fox, feeling an instant attachment for some reason. I initially shrugged it off as just a reaction to a picture of a cute animal, though did go about trying to train me spiritual energies, a little difficult with no guidance or books about it. Still, for a while I managed to develop the ability to either make animals panic and run or feel calm and approach me with a thought, though I ended up stopping practice on that when the side effects ceased to be funny and started to be creepy. Basically, humans start to start forget I was there, near the end even in the middle of a conversation, though usually I'd say something and they'd freak, saying they weren't aware I was there even through I was standing right in front of them.
I discovered kitsune mythology about a year ago, thinking it fitted my condition reasonably well, though not perfectly. Most likely I favor the kitsune/part kitsune theory on my condition due to me finding foxes quite cute, and in my occasional dream me always having two tails, though I've never managed to focus on them to see if they were in fact fox tails and certain haven't noticed myself having fox ears in those dreams yet.
I am not certain what I expect to find on these forums expect possibly some friends, as nice as confirming that I'm a kitsune would be I'd sort of feel bad because being a fox spirit in New Zealand would technically be against one of the founding laws of my country which states foxes aren't allowed here. Still, it'd be nice to know what people here think of this whole thing.

That's quite an interesting story. Yes, you could be a kitsune, or have been possessed by one when that event with the hot metal happened. I know too little now to say though. Anyway, welcome to the forum ^_^

Thanks for your support, and I'd love to chat some time. Of course, currently going into exams at University and probably will have to leave it till after then.
