The colors of white and red. What do they mean?

In Shinto, White and Red need to be separated to view their divine qualities.

White, in Shinto, is directly viewed as an intangible celestial color. It always has been in many cultures. It always will be. Purity and innocence.

Red is the color of blood, and represents the physical, tangibly earthly, and sacrifice. It can also be righteous anger, or deadly vengeance.

Placed together, it represents 'Heaven and Earth'. This is why the Shinto Priests and Priestesses wear the famous white and red clothes.

Black is the color chosen by Tsukiyomo, the Kami of the Moon and Moonlight. Black is the color of night, and divides the day. Though many dark things hide in black, it is none the less there to be set as example of both right and wrong. In Shinto, this is a basic concept, as it is in many other religions as well.

Blue is the color of water; rivers oceans and storms; healing and cleansing. It is also the color of emotion and turbulence. A balance-able imbalance; an imbalanced balance-able. This is why this color is attributed to the God of Storms and Oceans, Susano-O, Kami of the Maelstrom and Passion.

Colors in all religions have importance. It would be wise to look into these colors to see what is meant. Mainly, this is attributed to 'primary' and some secondary colors, all of which I could describe. Name a single color, other than any of the others that I've mentioned so far, and I will say something about it.

I've spent a long time contemplating deep green. It has always had a significance to me. Originally order, but also a rejection of binary morality, an in-between of neutral motives, as things are in nature. Later I read something about druids and something from that sort of got blended in. There was a phrase used, something like "I will stand on the side of truth, though the world turns against it." This struck quite a chord. Neutrality, as one who walks on the borders of all things. Order as in natural law. It fit into what I was already thinking so I adopted it. If I could directly view my soul given shape, I would not be surprised to see much jade and viridian within it.

I was looking up as I was walking home and just realized how... huge everything is, everything but us, we're so small. But yet... I could almost feel it, the spark of life, the thread of fate, a bit of electric sizzle in the stars. I was reminded of death, and thereby of life. I felt alive. I think maybe, if I can just feel that for a moment every now and then, anything else that happens to me is O.K.

To be Honest, Seeker... That's exactly what I see. If it is of any consequence to you, the Forrest/Life Breed and element adopt the colors and hues of all greens. They are also much like kitsune druids and Celtic warriors, only Japanese in origin. To end all, they were very much 'naturalists'. The pattern of their thoughts was exactly that.

"Sometimes to stand by truth is to stand alone, though all else hate such a sight, for so lonely is that place. Yet, at least the heart therein is filled with Makoto, when all others... have none."

No idea where you get dark green from, but it is my favorite! I love the ocean, and close to land with the proper levels of pollution it too can be a very deep green.  :D

Sunset and snow. When I think of red and white, I feel the peace and calm of a clear winters day, at sunset!

I have seen the statues of Kitsuné several Inari shrines, and usually they have red bibs on, but the Kitsuné statues from the Jozan Inari shrine that I added to my avatar had blue bibs. Any ideas? I think I read why at one time, but I have forgotten.

The representation of the Blue Bib? Hmm... Don't kill me if I'm wrong, because I'll actually have to check into that. However, blue was also indicative of water and wisdom. When tied to the Kitsune statues, If I rememebr right, is indicative to the spiritual or mental, meaning, it's well-wishes are taken that they hope for the protection of someone's spiritual state, or their mental well-being, asking the guardian of the Shrine to intercede on the pratitioners behalf.

This is something that's past my erra. It may be something as new as the past 50 years. As far as a kitsune goes, I'm old, but that doesn't mean I'm all-wise, no matter how much knowledge I have. If you ffeel like researching this with me, please offer me some links, and I'll see what I can dig up.

Purple has always just been weird to my senses.

Symbolizing things beyond my understanding or even just... really freaking weird.

Do you mean like purple Christmas lights? You look right at it and yet you can't see the physical source of the light and only the blurry purple blur that's around the area and you get frustrated and start throwing things at it because you can't physically see and understand why you can't see it and then have cops called on you for destruction of personal property?

    Um... no...

I've got this weird like Russian or Middle Eastern (probably Russian) christian ornament that looks kinda like one of the Kremlin towers upside down, it's an ornament that you hang and it is just. freaking. weird.

I've tried analyzing it, and all I can figure out is that it's weird and it's energy doesn't harmonize with anything else in my house. It's also not harmful or discordant, so I let it be because it seems to assist in keeping nasty things away somehow.

    It's just weird.

And purple colors in general just say 'weird' to me.

Maybe, for me, purple just means 'different'.

Those black lights (UV lights) mess up my vision as well, they make my brain feel fuzzy.

In high school I had an astronomy class.

The teacher put the entire night sky on the ceiling with a UV-reactive invisible marker. And he'd stick a blacklight on a table in a box facing up, and turn off the lights. That was trippy.
