Seeing as the vampire section of this forum is still relatively blank, I thought I'd add a poll. I've actually heard a bit of dispute over this topic, and wanted to see what everyone at kitsuhana thought. If you're wondering, this is how the question was proposed to me. If you're looking for more exact details, please reply and let us know what they are, and what differences they make in your opinion.

     Huh?
    I really don't know.
I don't think vampires in that sense exist as a species.
    Maybe more like a trait.
I mean, us foxes, we do have vampiric energy drain capabilities attributed to ourselves in various lore.

Do you suck blood? or just energy?

If you suck blood, you are fairly unique, meaning you are either a vampire or a crazy nutjob.

If you suck energy, you're hardly unique, since so many otherkin can do that.

There's also a few 'natural' animals that suck blood, so it's not that unique I guess.

And besides, the licking of blood is something that a lot of animals and humans do to heal quicker.

In that case, a vampire can only be defined as something that needs the blood in order to survive (which still holds true for vampiric bats).
If you say humanoid (semi-humanoid) vampires, than you're talking about a species that can be argued about whether they exist or not.

To be able to say whether those are otherkin, I can't really say, haven't really met any in person... Plus, you'd need an exact 'definition' for what a vampire is as well as what an otherkin exactly is.

Well, otherkin is a very broad label that is all inclusive but it's definitly a different branch of otherkin -large enough to have their own communities and such.

-My opinion on it anyway ^^

Most otherkin identify as 'something else' on a spiritual level.  fox_thoughtful

If a vampire's identity as such, was defined or explained in a spiritual way, then that would probably make them 'otherkin' as well.  But if they ascribe to the idea that it is in some way a physical/biological state instead --then I don't think the term is likely to apply.

I suspect there are members of the vampire community in each camp, but I wouldn't know that for sure.  If that is true, then some would be otherkin and some would not.

    Those are my thoughts, anyway.
