Somehow I thought I should post this.

I could almost feel it, the spark of life, the thread of fate, a bit of electric sizzle in the stars. I was reminded of death, and thereby of life. I felt alive. I think maybe, if I can just feel that for a moment every now and then, anything else that happens to me is O.K.

Well seeing as my introduction is still the latest, and the topic of a movie came up...

I'm a fan of The Matrix, Donnie Darko, Fight Club, and 13 Monkeys. But I also love a good romantic comedy, like the classic "The Princess Bride".

    How about you all? ^_^

I don't care for "romance" type movies, they tend to combine a plot involving unrealistic circumstances with repetition of outmoded gender roles and feminism to create a broken and unhealthy image of interpersonal relationships- as harmful to real romantic relationships as constantly seeing anorexic chicks dressed like hookers is to little girls. I also find them boring most of the time, which is probably more influential on my opinion.

I grew up watching jackie chan and tim allen comedies, stuff like Delta Force, Terminator and Apocalypse Now, and old movies on MST3K.

I don't like many new movies, there's too much emphasis on effects and star power on not on plot and photography like it ought to be. That and product placement, sequel spam, and repetitive storylines that have mostly been done to death. And too many movies that have an advertising budget as large as the budget to make the movie.

Never saw fight club, and the Matrix was so-so. However I loved 13 Monkeys, The Princess Bride, and Donnie Darko. I have so far liked all of the Ghibli movies, even though I don't understand the language.

Miyazaki's movies are some of my favorites, from My Neighbor Totoro, which I first saw and fell in love with at the age of three, to Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, which are rather darker and more adult tales. Every single one of his movies that I have seen has been just as good as any other and decidedly unique in their style. It's something that's dying in the rest of the movie and animation industry.

Apart from Miyazaki, I like straight action flicks with predictable plots (preferably modern or sci-fi, though a nice monster mash can be good) when I just want two hours entertainment, and parody-comedy films that actually have plot (Not like Epic Movie and that crap, things like Spaceballs, Galaxy Quest, and Mystery Men.) which are another dying breed of film.

Oh, and Inglorious Basterds. The Basterds are awesome.
