Well, never mind that.
Actually, I wonder why strong language can upset people as such.
This is fascinating. The power of language, if only I can understand it more thoroughly.
It is amazing the power that language has, with the right words you can drive someone to suicide or murder. And with other words you can help save hostages from a terrorist.
You can study many paths of language manipulation and control, it depends on your goals:
To force people to make decisions that would be good and beneficial for them:
Influencing with Integrity: Management Skills for Communication and Negotiation Revised Edition by Genie Z. Laborde (Paperback - Jan 2003)
To manipulate with the intention of destroying or controlling another:
Mind Manipulation: Ancient and Modern Ninja Techniques (Paperback) by Dr. Haha Lung (Author), Christopher Prowant (Author)
Both books are very good and are in print, they will give you a great deal of insight on the workings of the human brain, and are an excellent starter for manipulating others (for good or ill). We are all such simple creatures to control once you understand the basic rules.
Try playing poker with a mind master and no matter how good your hand is, you WILL lose.
As far as colorful metaphors or explicit expletives, they have their time and place, and when I am alone I use them on occasion. However that is not the "face"/"mask" that I would like to show to others, so I choose not to curse or cuss in public or around others. It can have a very powerful tool if used at the proper time, but their effect is usually disruptive of proper communication, and only very rarely supportive.
