Do any of you for ones who are Shinto or Myobu do you have certain music to meditate or pray to Inari or any Kami with? I have been using some form of Chinese and Japanese music I get a certain feeling from it.  What kind of music do any of you other Myobu and such use? (or if your Nogitsune what about meditation?)

Actual Buddhist meditation chants, the soft bell in the background, hell, even just sitting somewhere away from the beaten path and listening to ambient nature works wonders.  Then again, I find myself really attuned to Music/Sound energy, so I can use any song to give a desired effect.

Too much stylized vocal noise to really focus.  I.E. If it weren't so similar to a pop song in its beat and lyric layout it would be worth checking into.

Coyote Oldman is wonderful music for meditation, if you can somehow get a hold of his CDs and music.  (IF YOU CAN, PLEASE post a link here or IM/PM me!)

I like the native american flute. Especially by itself. Simple, emotional and resonant, like a pure language. Nothing quite like it.

I was looking up as I was walking home and just realized how... huge everything is, everything but us, we're so small. But yet... I could almost feel it, the spark of life, the thread of fate, a bit of electric sizzle in the stars. I was reminded of death, and thereby of life. I felt alive. I think maybe, if I can just feel that for a moment every now and then, anything else that happens to me is O.K.

I personally find my music changes by the day for getting in contact with nature (or other things).  Usually, though, a walk out to the patch of desert near our park and climbing to the back will help me think a lot.  Nothing so beautiful as the wide view of the clear sky here.  Looks like infinity.  Smiley

i have a lot of music i listen to, but the one i listen to most frequently is 'death of a kitsune'

I call it that because that is what i feel it is, the music always gets me to picture a kitsune parade walking through a forest...

I don't mean to be a Cad, but I found this little gem on YouTube, and I just have to share.  It reminded me of Inari.... fox_thoughtful

    Ah...

     *smiles warmly.*

This is something to discuss. All kitsune favor music, dance, plays, the theatrical arts heavily. ALL do. How many kitsune paintings have you seen where kitsune are 'dancing in the night'?

Too many? Maybe that's the reason.

All kitusne dance. Even the evil ones.

That's just part of our social society.

    Hmm...

I have to say, meditation doesn't really work well for me in the first place.

I prefer to lose myself in a flow.

Flow of water, wind, people, sound, doesn't matter.

My favorite music, the music that helps most, is music that tells a story with a mellow tune.

In other words, many forms of country music. Many soft-rock and pop tunes. Love ballads. Even a rap/hip-hop song or two.

Stuff with a weird beat or that is loud... I don't care for metal generally, though there's a couple I like when I'm in the mood for them.

As long as the sound flows... whether like the lazy breeze or the ripples from skipping stones...

And to me, the music of the voice, the body is the world's greatest instrument. No other can form lyrics to give more meaning to the music.  :D
