Try using a torrent or P2P program like eMule or DC++ and search for the name of the book, or a site that gives torrents (be careful for viruses there). If you're lucky you can find it like that if others share it too, it's the best way if you can't buy.

I tried Mininova's torrent search and eMule. Neither had it.

Some things just aren't meant to be.

You can always go on undernet #bookz. They tend to have obscure things. A physical copy is always better than an Ebook, and you ought to support authors, but if you REALLY GOTTA read something NOW it's mostly out there.

Permasticky on 420chan has more information, instructions and a copy of the help file from the channel. Thread is worksafe. Also, /lit/ is pretty freaking cool.

Actually, I went on there searching for it, I never read it but I think I might have landed it. It would be on my mom's computer I'll check tomorrow, I can send it to you.

I could almost feel it, the spark of life, the thread of fate, a bit of electric sizzle in the stars. I was reminded of death, and thereby of life. I felt alive. I think maybe, if I can just feel that for a moment every now and then, anything else that happens to me is O.K.

*Shakes head*

I never get books that are not freely distributed.

Its wrong to not support the author, especially if you enjoy the book.

Considerin you could locate a library and order it there to read freely, and that libraries etc have paid the author for said book.

you realise that authors get a very, very low amount of money from each book sold ?

They need to sell literally a few hundred thousand to get any real income.

That's what is wrong in this. And it has nothing to do with piracy, only capitalist exploitation of the arts.

I'm sure he's searched libraries. You could get it shipped in from online, sure, as I said you should still buy it if you can get ahold of it. I'm just saying you can find it and read it if you can't get ahold of a copy.

You know. You could always just contact Kij Johnson yourself and explain your situation to her, I know she would be more than happy to give you a PDF version of her book if you show you're willing to pay for it.

Leave your luck out of this. You've just been provided with a useful link. Really, just ask, as the worst she could do is say no over the Internet. Don't fall into the helplessness syndrome so many would-be consumers seem to let themselves become, as you are not entitled to anything being delivered to you with zero effort on your part.

Tsukiyomaru?

...Grow up. If you still can't get a hold of the book after I have served you all this information practically on a silver bloody platter then you don't deserve to have the bloody book. End of story and quit whining, nobody cares. I tried to help you but you aren't worth the effort.

Well, I gave it a shot, but I don't have much hopes... I say that I'm so lucky that if I have 1% of chance into failing on something, I WILL fail...

Of course you'll fail with that attitude. Don't be a noob.

Drop her a line. It can't hurt. There's no real failure condition, worst that happens is she says no or doesn't answer. I do have it here if that happens, but you gotta at least try...
