By the time you see this, the website/forums will all have been moved back onto my server.  Report any issues to me (Alynna).   I'm intending on getting us active again, a few more new mods (not Salem dont worry) and I am moving the IRC channel to #kitsuhana on the Quickfox network

 Nerdy

0 23 * * * cp -av /var/lib/mysql/kshrine /home/www-data >/dev/null

This means the database is backed up daily to my raid5 /home partition every day at 11pm.  KTHX.

I want to talk a little bit about the move.
1) I didn't move it because of any problem with Samui, I still care lots about him and he will remain an administrator here indefinitely.  I thank him lots for keeping it up while I was moving and settling in Pasadena.
2) I did move this because my new ISP is more reliable than the Comcrap it was on, and I have additional IPs to work with and stuff and also
3) Because I started this site and while it never stopped being mine, I did only feel right being the one to host and run it.  I've had a hard time living in Sacramento and my life is mostly coming back together now, so I feel the energy coming back to run this site again.  Its a continuing calling for me to do something, that contributes to the otherkin community, and this is a part of it, so thats what i'm gonna do.

There is at times, continuing problems with the DNS being updated, causing you to, at times, be redirected to Kitsune Paradise where the site was being hosted.  These will go away with time, probably the next few days.   Usually if you wait 10 minutes (the TTL of the DNS record) the problem will go away, but it won't go fully away until the old IP address truly expires.  Thanks for your patience.

I'm happy to see this move is done. I noticed the forum runs much faster now then in the last few days. And of course I'm very happy to hear you are feeling better and alongside that may find the time to be more with us Smiley

Just please, try to come here and and stay with us as well, even if you can only post like once a week or less. Until this move it's been almost an year since you last posted here Alynna, and we really want you to be around more often. If you could do that from now one it would be wonderful, this place would be much more beautiful with you around as well.

Just a quick question... Did those that had kanji as their username end up getting it fiddled with? I noticed that there was one name that said "Huh??" instead of characters and there is also "Liëka".

Did the server change screw things up?

Can you copy mysql folders without locking/disabling the database? I thought about doing that in the past on my server, but I did not think it would work. Is there anything special that you do with the database?

Also I live in Southern California as well, so if you ever need any help online or IRL, please let me know.

you don't *have* to lock the database, at worse, you'll have to repair the tables if the tables were not fully updated, and then the tables might not be 'current', but the backup never is...
