After the forum software change yesterday there are a few new issues or unconfigured settings with the board. I thought it would be helpful to make a list with them here so Samui or Alynna can take a look at the problems when they wish. If anyone finds new issues please post them here as well. This is what I found so far:

- No uploads to the forum are any more possible. Whenever I try to upload something I get a message saying "The attachments upload directory is not writable". This includes attempting to attach files to posts or upload an avatar. Also the file upload limit is 128kb per attachment... maybe the size limit of each file should be at least 512kb or 1mb?

- The "New Topic" and "Reply" links are too small. As Samui knows from messenger I had to ask him where these links were located. They should be bigger and easier to see. Also Reply should be placed on the bottom bar if that can be changed (next to where mods can see Set topic sticky | Merge Topics as that's much more easy to find in that location and fits better there).

- Small skin issue. Sticky topics do not have the gradient background after one another. Screenshot below.



- We really want the old fox smileys back I'm going to upload the corrected ones after the first issue gets fixed so I can attach files to posts. Or on second thought I uploaded them on an external file host in the meantime, check this topic and apply them when you wish.

- I randomly checked and seen the forum has that checkbox asking you to be at least X years old to join enabled on the registration page. There's no need to keep such stuff which might offend younger people if it can be disabled, so if that can be turned off from the forum settings it would be great.

- Every time you post a new reply you are taken to the forum / area where the topic is located instead of being taken to your newly posted message or the same topic. If that can be configured as well it would be helpful if it could act like previously.

I have increased the limit to 1mb per attachment, 2mb per post.

Both fixed. I changed out the text links for actual buttons, and modified the stylesheet to put the gradients on the pinned topics.

13 is actually the legal minimum to join any forum, at least in the U.S. (unless otherwise specified, of course). So, no, I am not going to disable that. We don't want any 10 year old kids running around on here, do we?

There isn't anything in the configuration that would let me change this, but maybe there is a modification that will do it. I'll check.

Found another issue. The avatar size limit seems to be 48 x 48 or something of the sort. Can we have at least 128 x 128 like before please? Also the signature size limit is 300 chars which is very little, it would be nice if you could make it at least 1000 characters if not more.

if the connection breaks while clicking "post", hitting back will save the text but break the post control so that you have to go back to the thread and hit "reply" again

that happens on invision, as well. it's a measure to prevent flooding. (like, clicking the post button several times to make a double post). another idea is to just refresh if the connection breaks. most browsers will try sending the post data again.

I have another suggestion for the design. Could you move the "Karma: +0/-0, [applaud] [smite], Offline, Posts: xxx" lines after the avatar instead of before it but in the same position? Avatars appear dropped down too much in posts and would look much better more at the top I think. These lines also look better under the avatar instead of over it generally.

Found another setting I think should be tweaked as well. It seems the timeout after which editing a post also prints the "<< last edit: ---- >>" message in it is 1 minute. Could that be made 5 or 10 minutes instead? Many of us edit posts quite a few times after making them and re-reading them, so that message now appears too often I believe.

The benefit of a slow forum is you can take forever to type up a post just perfect and not worry about being sniped. On important posts or when I'm feeling strongly I sometimes spend an hour revising. So I almost never use the edit button

Also, it seems to have forgotten many profile details about current users and set them to default values. For example, I just had to reset my birthday and it now believes I'm a girl.

The verified board was removed so it doesn't make any difference now. The news which says there are age-verified boards is now outdated.

There arent currently any age-restricted boards, however the mod that makes it possible is still there, so i'd make sure your info is right anyway...
