Okay. So, as you may have seen earlier, we've had a few bots slip in. Well, that happened because our CAPTCHA is easy to break. I am in the process of adding in reCAPTCHA, and probably even finding a blacklist for known spambots. (Which I should set up server-wide, actually). Also, one of our members seemed to be posting drunken rants or something where it wasn't appropriate to do so.

I attempted to roll back to a database backup from last week, but that went over about as well as a fart in church. So...the latest backup before that was from mid-November 2008. Many posts were lost, and several new members will now have to rejoin. I apologize for the inconvenience. This shouldn't happen again.

Yeah, it's very sad that all posts for 3 months were now lost. If there's no way to recover them we're just going to rebuild everything in time I guess. I like the new forum software instead, it looks nicer.

I think its becuase everyone got an email about the compromise in security and to change their passwords.

Maybe we ought to send mails to every members in certain intervals, like once every three months...

Also I've had boards where the "Notify me of replies" option was checked by default, thus reminding me of the board even after years.

I agree. Maybe a newsletter sort of thing can get going, or an automated e-mail to remind inactive members of their account's existence.

Yes, it was because of breach of security that dragged me here again.
