Alright, I just downloaded it and finally made an SL account: Foxseeker Lorefield. Has a nice ring to it. Anyways today I was occupied with trying to hack a game, so I'll crack it open tomorrow and see what I can make. A couple questions:

are the things you create stored on the local machine as a file, or only on the LL servers? It'd be alot easier if I could just go download some object templates to base my first creations off of. If this is possible, know of any good sites for this?

Are there any tutorials you reccomend, especially geared towards your current theme on the sim?

On an unrelated note, I've found out Google Labs has opened Lively, an in-development program similar to SL- it doesn't look like it has much functionality yet, but it looks like we won't have to deal with LL's barbaric ToS much longer. You can already get animal avatars for it, I'm not sure how much you can create in-game. I'll be checking that out tomorrow too.

I was looking up as I was walking home and just realized how... huge everything is, everything but us, we're so small. But yet... I could almost feel it, the spark of life, the thread of fate, a bit of electric sizzle in the stars. I was reminded of death, and thereby of life. I felt alive. I think maybe, if I can just feel that for a moment every now and then, anything else that happens to me is O.K.

Yes I seen Lively and tried it, it looks really nice. Anyway make sure you registered on http://osgrid.org/ and not http://www.secondlife.com with your account, as I run this sim on OSgrid being an opensim server so this isn't on the Linden official grid. Also, everything you do there is stored only locally to me since this is opensim and I run local assets, the LL servers aren't touched in any way. As for a building tutorial, you may find something good here, I never used any online tutorials for building (except for learning scripting) and learned building in-world.

Important: If anyone is going to build on the sim, please inform me first as I may restore backups without looking and delete something. I made a small sandbox in the corner, so please build only there so I know where I can find the objects. Also, please do not upload anything unless it's completely necessary to, I need to keep the sim small to be ready to send the source to the other admins any time.

As for the latest news; I now opened an IRC channel on irc.quickfox.net for the sim. The channel is named #opensim_kitsuhana and I have the latest news and info about the sim, and also a opensim IRC bridge which relays the sim to the channel as well as the in-world <-> channel chat. If you have an irc client installed, use this link to go there now.

Ok. Tonight was the first time I hanged with other people on the sim and got to chat and get a feel of things (thanks Aine and Seeker for joining in). The lag was surprisingly small (none at all actually to my surprise) as we even got to play with some physical prims. Manually sending the avatars worked perfectly and I found the experience just perfect almost just like in the Linden SL. Photos of us three attached (two are on imageshack as they where over the upload limit);

It was quite nice indeed. I finally got it to work, played around a bit making stuff, and then Aine and Taoki showed up and three of us hung around for a while talking. I saw a few bugs, I still need to check that those aren't client-side. Once i get a bit of a feel for how to do things in the builder, I've got a couple of pet projects in mind. I'd also like to figure out how animation works, because if it work the way i think it does it would be a good way to add major content without much overhead on the filesizes.

Every time I log in I get stuck in what looks like the ground and can't go anywhere.  <.<;  And I loved that shrine the most....I furnished it.  The shrine before I built myself with the help of a few others.

Kuro: I had the logging under terrain issue too, and that might happen because of a bug in OpenSim where if you log in to your Last Location you get logged up in the sky. As a note to everyone else; Set your client's start location to Home, not My Last Location, otherwise you'll get logged in high up in the sky!

Anyway, do this; Open the SL client without logging in, go to Edit, Preferences, General tab, and make sure that "Show Start Location on Login Screen" is turned on. Then close the preferences window and at the bottom of the screen to the left, there is a "Start Location:" field. In that field, replace 'My Last Start Location' or 'My Home' with this line: Opensim Kitsuhana/128/128/50 . Then just click the Connect button. Once on the sim, go in a good spot and go to World -> Set Home To Here, so next time you just log in directly and you're at your home spot there. After that, go in the preferences window again and set that field to My Home position instead of My Last Location to avoid the bug I mentioned at first. Hope that helps :)

That's probably my sim having crashed... or if you're on a slow connection you may have to wait for a little. If I'm online and you can't connect always feel free to tell me if my sim is down so In can restart it. I think you should IM me when I'm awake so we can do this together though I seem to be always sleeping when you're around :(

[EDIT] I deeply apologise... the reason you most likely couldn't move is that I leave my torrents open at night and they eat all of my bandwitch. I didn't realize that until now, I will try to leave them off starting tonight so it will work. Sorry about that... try again tonight as my bandwitch should be free this time and it should work.

Lol. I'll probably get on tonight too, practice making stuff a bit more. Maybe I'll see you on there, Kuro.

Ook... now for the latest news; Approximately one hour ago I had an attack by a griefer who now runs sim attacks on OSgrid. The spammer logged in and created all kinds of scripts throwing prims or textures, placed prims with stupid textures all over, etc. Of course nothing was permanently damaged as I have tons of backups and I restored everything back to normal with just a few clicks, though still it gave me a concern until I fixed it all.

Anyway, because of this I set everything but the sandbox to No Build, as if the person spams only in the sandbox I can easily go there and delete everything without even looking at it. So yeah just know building will be disabled from anyone else but owners (I'm currently the only one set as an owner on the sim) but will be adding passes to other friends too once that will be implemented as groups aren't implemented yet.

Wow, I'm surprised that took as long as it did. Lol, stupid griefers, trying to do crap to an easily refreshable sim... what noobs!

Yeah they use OS and take advantage of breaches in it to flame people and spam sims. Believe it or not I had almost 3 or 4 hours of negotiations and debates with the person today together with the grid owners, which I have to say was rather interesting considering we actually chatted together with griefers. I also had a stress test for the sim with this occasion since the negotiations began from my sim... 6 people at the same time and there was still no lag even in conditions of high chatting. They where some kind of group called PN apparently and now they decided to ban anyone associated with the group since they're a team that seem to be interested in attacking and disrupting sims and the like. Anyway there shouldn't be any more problems... I should have set the sim to No Build either way later on to avoid general issues and unwanted builds.

Patriotic Nigras! I know a bit about them, I ran across their site a while back and poked around a bit. They're associated with the old /i/ on 4chan(which still exists as an access-restricted area), they're as pro as the internet hate machine gets. They're dedicated to griefing in the metaverse- primarily targeting furries, it seems. Their main site is up, but under construction. It seems they are opening their recruitment policy, and switching to an imageboard format for their forums. Their site is located at http://http://www.patrioticnigras.org . Before the reconstruction they had videos of griefing involving large animated replicators, texture vandalism, particle source generators, and the like. They formerly used a customized SL client called "shoopedlife" which no longer functions as well in SL main as it used to- it allowed them to fly in no-fly-zones and things like that- unfortunately many of these likely still work in OS. It also comes preloaded with griefing equipment. They seem to be in good humor, and respectful aside from the griefing, and had numerous posts on their forums, and a section for it, from people claiming to be the victims. Most weren't mad, oddly enough.

If you go on their boards they openly discuss their means exploits: http://http://b.patrioticnigras.org/

Apologies for the downtime in the last few days as I had trouble starting the sim but I should check better why I was getting these crashes. Anyway there is another longer downtime coming on as I'm leaving to the seaside on 26 this month (two days from now) and will be staying there for 2 weeks and 2 days. I can't leave the computer on by itsself for all this time so I have to keep the sim down, but once I'll be back I will start it up immediately again.

Looks liked you ripped the models from the original Second life and used lesser textures on the stuff.
