I'm back, I know i've opened this up last month then not really touched it but I am going to start doing alot more touching now.  I had to get past a pretty busy point in my work life.

The first order of business is to note that I have introduced a new moderator, Fawkesey, give him warm welcomes and tailfluffs.

Now another thing.  Its been suggested we wipe the board and start fresh.  Here's a list of options I am inclined to take, which will be attached to a poll in this very thread, so follow this announcement to it.

Also soon I will follow this up with a post outlining what I expect out of these boards.   I think a statement of purpose is in order.

"Erase only specific threads from specific boards which are a problem" is what I believe. Because it's only been certain topics that upset people... the ones about the drama, fluff war, etc. You may want to tweak the boards, descriptions and such separately if you feel thats best however, probably to make it less likely for someone to feel the need to start a drama in them, but I believe only the topics which caused the problems are to be erased.

Also, in interesting and valid topics in which off-topic fights broke up later on, only the "bad posts" should be erased, but the original discussion left untouched. Many of the discussions that took place here are valuable, and it would be sad if they got deleted.

Just please, not a fresh start! We discussed so many things here about kitsune, energy and the like, which would be best to be left here for further discussion and reading by others and it would be very sad for all of them to get deleted. The board configuration is also good (topic arrangements, etc) though yeah they could be changed if necessary. So please please just no fresh start.

I agree with Taoki, there is a wealth of knowledge here to base things on, but there are far too many broken topics that need moving.

although, I do, however see some boards that in my opinion could be merged or removed. I guess it's just my own personal taste, but in my eyes, instead of having a bunch of really really specific boards with just a few topics here and there, I like more general looking boards with a wealth of different topics.  It also may be confusing for people to figure out where to post their topics, as the boards are really almost nitpickey in their specializations.

I hope I'm not being too assertive, I'm just offering an opinion

Well, me and Fawkesey have already started reorganizing.

First I've cleared out the WTF drama forum, thats starting fresh.

Some other boards are being merged into other ones, basically ones that seem 'redundant', will be merged in one that is the more general and relevant.  Example, discussion of feeding donors have been merged into the general feeding forum.

I'm going to be posting a document of expectations soon, and editing the main opening page.

Sounds like a good start to me.  I'm curious though, why did the WTF drama forum exist in the first place?  It seems a bit silly to even have one.

I would suggest that you lock any threads that are no longer relevant. While keeping the forum intact.

I am not sure what admin options you have, but most forums allow you to close/lock a thread to prevent further posting.

as of right now I'm weeding through threads to find broken ones and irrelevant/superdead ones.  So a good amount of housecleaning will be taking place, I just need to get some more time put into it.

(and yes, locking is a standard moderation option)

I agree it would probably be best if we completely removed the OMG WTF Drama section with everything in it. It's a good place for ranting about some things but it could lead to something worse once again. So I dunno, maybe it should get closed. There is IRC for ranting either way

it's been completely wiped and is a subforum of the 'general discussion' area.  An area for uncensored debate and arguement, or simple ranting is very useful (especially for those who cannot access IRC), but if things get out of hand, or stuff is brought from drama into the forums, then action will be taken.  It is something that requires a level of responsibility and maturity, and I think that the members of this forum should be able to handle it.
