I'm just sort of curious, is anyone doing anything for New Year's? XD

For me, New Year's Eve / New Years Day is kinda my personal kitsune holiday, in a way.  Ever since I've heard that people traditionally visit Inari shrines on New Year's Day (and this awesome picture by Hiroshige:  http://collectionsonline.lacma.org/mwebcgi/mweb.exe?request=record&id=104111&type=101 ) it's become my personal holiday for the past few years.  Usually I'll go to a zoo and visit foxes, since I haven't had enough experience with actual foxes.

However, this year I'm away from all my usual places, so I'm trying something different.  I'm trying kitsune udon from a restaurant for the first time!  The closest I've had before were these Top Ramen style kitsune udon packets, and they were… kinda meh.  The aburaage was a little rubbery and weird, and eventually I just couldn't eat it anymore.  So, I'm treating myself this year to some REAL fox food. X3  Although spicy tuna sushi is really tempting too… there's something about raw fish, especially salmon, that makes me feel very foxy.  :D

Also, I feel awkward since this year I'm away from my little home shrine.  I couldn't really bring it with me since, well, it feels really awkward to just move it somewhere.   Perhaps I'll just meditate on the Hiroshige picture instead… that would actually be a good idea in the future, to have that to hang above my little shrine on New Years.  Or I could do that for Chinese New Year… that would be kind of awesome!

Does anyone else do anything special?  Or maybe have I given you ideas? XD

I plan on celebrating with a small dinner for two (a friend of mine, not a lover), and perhaps watching the count in New York. Hopefully, also sharing some presents.

In the end I just stayed home and slept/watched my mate play video games. I've been sick for the past few days... >.< I hate getting sick, it's awful. I rarely get sick at all, and I get over it pretty quickly, but until I do, as if to make up for lost time, the cold will kick my ass from here to El Paso and back.

Also, don't ask why I said El Paso. I suddenly want some salsa and chips.

I did nothing. I was in Flordia, returning home from vacation.

I have a very big year ahead of me however.

I didn't get to do anything physically or otherwise. I should have done some kind of minor ritual or something but things have been rather odd lately. Being sick didn't help ><.

Was celebrating with my mate and my friends.
Having a nice long day of playing games before (among others: Maid RPG) eating Racclette in the evening, and then, at midnight, starting to shoot rockets and not stopping till 2 AM (not because we ran out of ammunition, but because it was raining and one by one all the lighters went on strike).

    Good time.

    Good time.

They have outlawed most fireworks in America for new years and the 4th of July (Independence day). It seems strange that they put restrictions on symbols of freedom.

Anyway I spend the night at a friends house watching illegal fireworks go off all over the place, and listing to automatic weapons and shotguns firing for about thirty minutes, but it was cold outside and I was barefoot, so I went back inside for more cake!
