I noticed that this thread had been silent for some time so I figured I'd make a post and ask if anyone was close to any of the elements and could speak with them? Odd question I know but there is a lot of energy in here and it's making a me a little restless, I have no idea where it's coming from. It could just be a figment of my imagination and if it is then hooray my imagination isn't broken! Smiley

Now that aside, I have have quite the collection of stones behind me right now and there is a real energy coming out of there kind of like the fluttery feeling you get when you're nervous as well as the adrenaline rush but I can't feel anything negative emanating from the box I'm just thinking very quickly and moving even faster... Think of The Doctor when he's explaining something really technical. Shocked

That being said, I hope that this can stimulate some interesting conversations somehow about how we may or may not be connected with the elements around us, how they can effect us, how we can effect them, how we might be able to learn from them, etc. There is no need to call to attention that I am insane as I'm pretty sure I covered that quite well, I am trying to stimulate some practical discussion with this random and hopefully temporary bout of madness so if I have broken any rules or anything like that I apologise. fox_thoughtful

    Thoughts?  Busy

The Doctor! WOOT. I can't communicate with Them directly. I used to know some one who could though. I think everyone right now has that feeling of impending doom, kinda like the feeling you get right before lightning strikes the ground. Any one else?

    Impending doom, yeah.

I can speak with air to a limited extent. It doesn't answer in words but it does respond... when it feels like it...

I just talk with the intention of having the wind hear me. I do not know if others have different methods or experiences.

Your guess is as good as my own but sometimes when someone's screaming in your face long enough without you seeing them they just say 'screw it' and slap you. fox_okay

    That's a good question.
Before I can answer I really need to know what you mean by it.

my wife can communicate with spirits and here in this thread we speak of communicating with elements. I feel left out.

So I'm asking how does one achieve such a feat?  fox_okay

some  think you may simply need to have the ability.

Others say it takes opening your mind and meditating, that you're not really listening.

I think... that we're all constantly 'talking' to everything, even when we speak nothing at all, and perhaps other things with more cognizance of what is unconsciously said do not want to answer, or are answering and we're not aware of how.

    *shrugs* that's my contribution ^^

The question is open for interpretation and really which questions are not?

Lets see... It's kind of harder to talk to the wind, but, if you are lucky you can hear whispers on the wind.

Earth, Place you hand on the ground and feel the pulse of life.

Water, Feel the current of the water, temperature and such.

Fire, Place your hand Over (not in) the fire, feel its heat, warmth and light.

If you notice.... Communication is more than just words. It's also feelings. Elements communicate with emotions and feelings. So can us Kitsune Wink.

I've never talked to elements but elements do talk to me
not with words but with energy flow

the most common thing that happen is when i walk and then i'm alone (in a residential area, forest...) and then a small breeze caress me. I can fell energy within the wind
    +
most of the time i rise my head and i see a nice bright moon (at 4pm the sun start to set at this time of the year) and i feel even more energy running trough me and i can feel my ears on my head and my 2 tails
    +
I always listen to music when i walk

you need to bumb me with a truck if you want to stop me

when I lay on the ground i can feel like fusing with it and at the same time I feel like my spirit want to go out of my body but it can't  Sad yet

the only element I never feel secure with it's water
i never swim I only sit or simply stand up in the river

     Huh?
Hmmm, that reminds me of the songs I sometimes find myself in tune with.
Telling me of how they feel.
Like the earth, or the wild...

I speak with inanimate and animate objects and creatures all the time, and sometimes it makes me feel better. I figure its kinda like prayer or 'communing with the spirit' of a thing. Kind of an animistic view of our surroundings, but then again I also talk to myself. So whatever.
    :P

I tend to follow the school of thought that says form and categorization matter less than function where it applies to spiritual concepts like magical elements or deities --that those things are just tools to help the 'caster' achieve their desired effects. It kind of stems from the wiccan thing of one god and one goddess with many faces that facilitate their various roles.

Applied to elements, what I'm saying is that you can slice 'em up any way you choose. (I slice them nine ways plus one.) And talking with or working with them seems to work about the same. I'm not particularly 'gifted', but I'm not ambitious either. All I do is say "hello", "thank you", and "good luck" most of the time. All I'm after is a general sense of good will between me and whatever I'm dealing with or that happens to be around me at the time.

Meditating (nothing fancy, just quiet reflection, thinking, maybe light visualization...) on the ways and 'personalities' of the elements as you see them can be beneficial I think. It helps to understand how you see the world and to pay attention to how you feel about that world. If you find animosity somewhere maybe that aught to be addressed. If you feel like you don't know one very well that too could do with some attention sometime. This way a better sense of harmony can be achieved with your surroundings.

    I hope this wasn't too irrelevant. fox_okay

Interesting KD, I always wondered about addressing inanimate objects. I can't prove any effect, but it makes sense to show respect for everything, as it costs nothing but a little time.
