Now... the title I mean is that my copy of Field Guide to Otherkin by Lupa was found out in my work field... in that I bring it with me to work, and some people have found it and took enough interest to scan the cover and back.

It seems current results out of three people is that one asked if it were interesting... the second person stated "that's some crazy shit" and then proceeded to question what it was (and at my reply of it being interviews with people, asked if I learned anything from it and I just naturally said that I knew some things but not others), and then a third didn't seem to think much of the book.

I'm actually interested in that first and second one... the reason is that the person who saw the book first gives me an urge to talk to... and, I had posed a question to her in the form of "if you knew something about someone, would you tell them" and she was smiling the whole time saying if she saw something bad about someone... then yes, but not if it was something good. I sort of can't get the courage up to ask anything else, but she claimed to read books "like that" when she was younger. It's really changed my perception on her...

As for the second response, this guy works with me over in the one section we reside at. He had picked up the book and sort of motioned at it asking what it was... I just said it was my book.
So... he scanned the back. I checked a few seconds later and saw this... he then put the book down and with his trademark look of fake seriousness I guess... he said that it was crazy shit, again.
But... I can't recall if I said anything or if I did it was an "hmm, ok" or another affirmative... as I wouldn't push the issue of the book. He then asked about the nature of it, again, interviews with people.
Then the question of learning anything. I don't know exactly what he was thinking... he hasn't said anything about it or treated me any different from then... so I assume things are just fine.

I would have probably mentioned knowing the author... but... that would probably have been awkward.
 :(
I don't even know you that well Lupa... heh.

Playing with an otherkin book between normals you have to see every day is like playing with a gas bottle between flames. I hope they'll forget about that soon and won't give you too much trouble after seeing it. Try to keep it more hidden and never forget it there again for someone else to see.

That's the thing... most everyone has seen me with the book... but has completely ignored it.

I guess you could start to see this as an experiment of sorts... or me pushing my luck to the limit perhaps...

Not my intention at all, I've just had a recent interest in reading.

Its not all that dangerous Taoki. ^_^
I for example have put a lot of meowing into my day, and normal people just tend to think I'm somowhat quirky, but otherwise don't mind.

I'd read that book often... I'm not afraid of telling about being an otherkin... I just don't tell what I am exactly (example: I tell that I'm a child of Gaia, but I won't tell that I'm a wolf demon)...

My god... it's driving me nuts...

The one person that first saw my book... that I asked the question... I've just got a burning desire to talk to her.
I know I'm not "seeking" her out or other nonsense like that... it's just... I'm drawn to her to just talk to.

It doesn't help my situation that she doesn't have e-mail... her husband has a laptop since their tower went boom... and he doesn't let her on it.

I just... so... want that one chance to keep prodding to ask questions, to get a better sense if I'm just out of my mind or if I'm on to something here. Because, the people I've told about myself are people I trust... and they've been helpful.

I have not known her all that long and I've got such a want to tell her... more so than my own friends... I don't understand it.

I mean, my first question to her was because of this. My next question would be if she would just tell me if there was anything about me she noticed... or something. I've got to think of a question that I can casually ask and get some sort of better idea about her.

It's not about talking to her... it's that I don't want to let her on about anything until I'm sure that it's not just me...
Actually... I want to ask just what kind of crowd she attracts to herself... that might give a better idea.

Please help.

This can only mean two things; Either you just got the feeling she would be the kind to listen when you spoke with her at first, but in reality she could have just said things nicely back then and left just the impression of listening, and if you would tell her she could just laugh at you (so in this case it is just you)... either you automatically read her, and felt that she is a nice and understanding person that would just listen to you with such things and could even be something like yourself, which means she could even be a friend for you as your true self if you told her.

Making the difference between the two is a bit difficult, at least from my own experience, so don't be quick to tell her too fast. Try to find out more about her, and see from her behavior if she could be the kind of person to understand such things, then slowly find a way to approach the subject if you think you can.. but not by mentioning anything about you believing you're a dragon or anything like that, just something light at first that sounds as normal as possible, then see what she says and how things go.

Well, those that said she was just saying something nice... were right.

I'm not at all disappointed... I felt pretty warm and fuzzy at the answer to me asking "when you look at me what do you see?"

She had told me she didn't see anything bad, and that I'm a good kid, I think perhaps even that I would go far, etc.

Consequently she thinks someone else at work is a complete ass. I agree with her on that.
 :)

I offered to let her read my book that she saw... as I finished reading it over my breaks. I'm reading Lupa's other book that I purchased. From there I'll most likely finish up my other books I started so that I've read them at least once... then continue to ones I haven't had a chance to pick up.

Oh... and... what is the best way to get a smoke smell out of a book? Someone had moved my Field Guide into the smoking room and it soaked in the smell. I left it in a box with my deodorant over the weekend... that seemed to help.

I'm sorry to disappoint... but it seems I misworded  or forgot to include something...

She didn't want to read my book because she has long stopped reading books... and she also doesn't want to get addicted to books again. Not sure why.

Other people are slowly taking an interest it seems... one guy in the far off corner of the place saw me with one book, I'll have to show the Field Guide to him next week though as I think he's off now... and then a guy that I've heard believes the place we work is haunted was wondering...

I... personally heard someone call him a nut... that he believed in werewolves in the literal sense and such... but the new information of him saying haunted. I don't know what to think... I know when he asked about my book though I changed the subject almost instinctively. I am not sure why now, but I don't know if this guy should see my books...

I have a hunch... and I might be off, but just a hunch that people who are into werewolves, vampires, witches and magic in the "traditional" sense, tend to or seem to be more on the "Dark Side" of spirituality.

For some reason I get a strange vibe from people like that, and I wouldn't blame you. People like that tend to weird me out too and its not because their "bad", its just... odd.

I love the spirituality that is presented here, it's friendly and non-hostile a "Light Side" if you will, being in tune with your inner self and inner spirit (whatever kin it may be).

Though most people have an "undeveloped" spiritual sense, they can generally tell the "good" people from "bad" people (very general). If the consensus among most of the people there is that he's a "nut", then take that into consideration, treat him like a yellow stoplight.

Go, but be cautious.

Indeed...

I get seriously bad vibes but it could be bias about the monitor on my sister's bus...
She's got a "holier than thou" attitude about her... and it doesn't help that her coming off the bus and telling Mom to back up resulted with me falling back to the curb... or that she just... seems weird.
Her feet freak me out too.
 :(
She just has to come down off the bus... then follow my sister up into the bus.

But, on to the matter... I think at this point there's only one person I wouldn't let see my books because he got upset by me just smiling. So... yeah.

Plus... no concerns of being fired over this book. Or any really... because the places I've worked try to promote diversity and acceptance and all that. As long as things don't get in the way of work they're very easy going.

Well then... tack on another update.

I had read through Field Guide and then also Fang and Fur, Blood and Bone. (There's something special to me that came after that... I'll consider where I should put it though as it involves trying to speak with "animal parts".)
 o.o
I refrained from making a comment when the one guy had said "nah... I'm more of an orc I think..." and they started laughing... etc.
But... but... he, the guy that had interest, did take the book with him, and said he would read it... I said he could use that bookmark I had in there because I had read the book already (and was just starting it again... but didn't care to mention that).

So... I guess it's a test of Lupa's book. See just how much of a swaying of views this writing could do. If later he makes a fuss and suspects something of me as a result, I'll just plainly state I'm not seeking to change opinions or "convert" anyone... and that's really all to say on that. I might even say that anyway if he likes the book. Just in a slightly different manner.
Well... he didn't forget the book at work, that's for sure... I saw him going to the exit with it in hand. That should be a good start...

I always love to see peoples' reactions when they read or see something they find strange.  Most you'll find will probably just pass it off as something neat to read but keep us posted in case someone actually does take interest in it.
