Kitsune: Japan's Fox of Mystery, Romance, & Humor

I don't know how well this relates to "The Book of the Kitsune", but I think I had a PDF of this that I found... and... I can't wait to get my hands on this... I'm going to buy it as soon as I can tomorrow...

Ooh, I heard this was out of print, I guess they re-released it!

I think I had a PDF of this one once, but it's been lost to the depths of cyberspace.

I do think this is one of the, dare I say, authoritative, sources on kitsune. At least, it seems that most non-RP kitsune pages reference it.

In the amount of time it took to think about coming back here, and definitely before reading this post... I am shaking over with excitement and thinking of getting one of the used copies that seems present...

I'm serious... there's a $300 and a $800... I thought the book used was... $1500? Unless I'm missing a zero in there?
I'm sure now it's the same one... 1961?

I'm... here... literally fidgeting in my chair and eager to spend that money for the hard cover... but I might have to settle for the paperback at release.

That's my goal. If I find out anyone has bought this one I will kill you...............not really.  ^_^  But I will beat you up a bit. That's my book, hands/paws/claws off. ^^ Anyhow, remember to take every publication on us with a cautious eye. Alot is false............and some of it is intentionally false. Leave it at that.

That is NOT a pdf, that's the real thing. Though if you want the pdf, send me a pm, I think I have it stored here somewhere.

Alright people... I fully expect a blunt no to this... considering how new I am and the circumstances...

I mentioned that I saw a book listed for $300. I've got the money for it...

Mom won't let me buy it. She just won't. Not until I moved out... and she wants that done in less than a year. She won't let me buy it because she thinks the money would be better spent on just the car, and focusing on moving out.

I honestly can't blame her... but now I do have the want to move out, because to me it's like I've realized just how much they don't want me here... it's gone from before turning 25 to before the following Christmas.

Really, I fully expect to never see them afterward now. Regardless of what they say...

If I gave a link to the Amazon list though... and everyone chipped in... bought the book (and whoever had it could look it over, just be careful), and then after I moved out could be sent the book and then send the money over...
Would anyone do that? I know that the money is a lot, but it's certainly less than $800.

*Sigh* Or, as I would expect, at mentioning this someone else is going to want that book, or someone would want it "for the community". But... that's the PDF best I could see. I don't really see myself going to see a book... or go to a gathering. I'm stuck here until a very far future date.

Just, be completely honest... would anyone pitch in, so that at that date I could buy this book? I would feel so much better and would have money actually saved just for it by then... but I can't even purchase it.

I'll bring up a direct link if this actually comes under way.

I'm serious... it's there, it says "collectible - very good" on quality, and it says the cover and dust jacket are, on there, good quality.

And... that store has a 95% satisfaction rate. So, if they weren't going to pay up... Amazon could potentially rip them a new one.

I know that if someone cheated me on it I might, and I'm generally easy going.

As much as I'd personally like the book, I wouldn't pay over $50 for it. Are you sure you'd rather pay that much for the original copy instead of a paperback?

You don't understand how much I love hardbacks...

I was tempted to buy the Ultimate Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy when I saw it in hard back, and have a paperback already...

But I absolutely want hardbacks... and... this is the 1961 publishing... I would use a paperback of this for taking out of the house.

Let me try to state this in a way that makes sense... I will go and buy video games and accessories for my computer and buy CDs and such...
Books, I look only at the spiritually tugging ones...

This book, I saw the book description on some site, and I started bringing a book with me to work instead of my DS.
I saw the cover... and I got a higher desire for it... I've read some of it in a PDF and so want a physical copy...

I would rather not buy a Wii and not buy more games than I currently have, and my last issue of Nintendo Power just came in the mail...

I returned my guitar and got $200 for that, which is what I had spent.

I think... I honestly think concerning these ideas and actions, I would want that book.

I would keep it coverted if not make better scans of the pages for the purpose of a better read online... and use the cheap paperback coming out for reading anywhere but at home.

This book would be something that were I with a family to pass down... or would give to my one friend in Canada once I pass on.

I... seriously would lay down $300 right now for that book. If it went... I would lay down the additional $500 for that one much later on...
 :(

I think what hurts me most of all though is that when Mom said no... my whole ideal of my family just shattered in front of me. I ended up pleading with her about me buying the book and swearing that it would be the one purchase to end my splurging.
I'm giving up so much just for something that's worth so much more...

*sigh* I feel ashamed now...

Don't get me wrong, the book is certainly a good one and I'm interested in possibly getting my hands on a copy as well some day, but it won't disappear off the face of the earth while you deal with moving out.  From the snippets I've seen from it a while back, it's a good book, but far from the bible of Kitsune if you know what I mean.

I know...

It would be easier to get a copy here in more than a year... the republishing in paperback format is coming out.

But, I couldn't help but think about the book at work... all night... and even after noticing that Guitar Hero III has come out...
Sure, I might want that, but the book still has a firm grip on my interest.

And... actually a bit of an update.

Mom and my stepfather must have talked about it... or there was some mention. Because my stepfather asked... he wowed at the age of the book, and WOWed at the price.
And... Mom just now noted that the one I'm thinking of is indeed what I say it is...

So... today though:
I returned my guitar, my electric guitar, with sub woofer stand picks and tuners... to the place I work. I noticed that my Nintendo Power subscription has run out... and I can give that up. I noticed as well that Guitar Hero III has come out... and I would like that, but the book I want even more.

Again, I sigh at how I must sound. I sent an e-mail to Dad and... he didn't think I was in the wrong, but I was almost vague if not so about the subject. I haven't talked to him about "myself" at all... I want to with him, but I am afraid what he might think, especially with his family history and my stepmother's influence.

It's just a book. O_o; And liek totally, guitars man? For a book? You've got to be kidding me. Lol! I can totally see why your parents think you're crazy.

As Aine..-san said, I myself wouldn't pay over $50 for a book. I'd pay more if it had like.... 3 trees made into it.

But it's your money. Do what you want. =P

Yeah, I see that too. Personally I understand, I know how it's like sometimes to just want something so much. Just hope noone buys it before you do, and wish you lots of luck with it.
