Tail question
«

This may sound funny but the question is still on my mind not fully answered. What can a Kitsune do to gain another tail? is it experiance through the ages? deeds that were done? (I only have one tail) tahnk you in advance.

What I've personally read is what you said.
I think... in a discussion here someone said servants of Inari are more likely to get tails from deeds while nogitsune would get theirs from age and other things... mostly I guess because they couldn't go do deeds for anyone?
Personal knowledge on the subject I have none.

From what I know, you gain them in two ways; either with growing strong over the time, feeding and other things, either by doing something very important, kind and impressive so that someone powerful enough (like a goddess) rewards you and helps you get your next tail. Not wanting to make any kind of wrong or bad comparative, but I believe gaining a tail could be somehow a lot like the experience -> level-up feature in some games, technically.
If not, a 2nd theory is that only gods and goddesses can give you a tail when you do something right, and they decide you deserve it and you just come to them and they just give you your next tail. Not sure exactly which is true, but I guess we would see when we'd get there.
I do in any case agree that doing good and kind things helps very much. Personally, I'm not so much into getting more tails and everything. Just glad I'm a kitsune and that I'm a sweet living foxy, which for now is enough for me

I won't worry personally as I find myself sometimes trying to describe something and the best I could come up with is a game as well.

I'm gonna place my theory in here, because it's a little controversial, but most people accept it as a rare possibility;
tails can be passed on to children or descendants should the parent already have nine; in this way, tails can also be a symbol for family prowess.

But won't inherited tails risk causing arrogance in the kits, such as them taking their status for granted by birth and not caring about doing anything to justify it?

I agree. It wouldn't be so nice to just be born having many tails by inheriting them, without going through all the steps of life to get them one by one for what you do, because you would have missed a certain step you could have enjoyed going through, and it's like not starting from the beginning. Then again... a 9-tail kitsune having a 1-tail cub could seem a little extreme... for such a powerful mother to have just a one tailed cub, so probably it can be justified if it's true.

I've never heard of the inheritance of tails either, although I guess it is a rare possibility. It may simply be so incredibly rare for the reasons that were mentioned above - it can be problematic in terms of personal growth and attitude in the kits that receive them.

interesting topic. i might have a small amount of input. not hard research but supposition and rationalizations from other past discussions
heres my thought -.- of one who boasts having a surplus of tails from birth on out especially if the one in mind lacks traits identifiable with those who posses an equal tail count. and i'd probably have a hard time taking any one seriously who in fact claimed to be kyuubi from birth
now then on topic of birthing kits above nogitsune, i have a theory that every so often you come across a family who possessed a ninetails some where down the recent line in which case it might be possible for a kit maybe two or three generations up the family tree to bare a kit with two maybe three tails, some thing like residual transference in which case the kit in question normally displays above average physical, mental and social traits but afterwards subsequent kits with th same attributes are less then likely to be born with two or more.
in the end a kit born into the world with more then one tail is bound to have a driven life, other wise the tails would be strictly for show and it's my opinion i that don't think any branch of any religion or belief system would allow for that to occur.
a little bit on gaining tails. from what i hear the first three are the easiest to gain one comes in the mid 20's some time, one comes after one serves in a sentai with other kin spirits as a show of force that can bring honor to the kitsune race as a whole and one after the kitsune accomplishes some sort of higher academia . atleast this is how i reckon it

hmm...I'm not entirely sure about being born with multiple tails. Though I haven't done as much research in this particular area as I have in others. I tend to think that the number of tails is relative to the age of the kitsune, rather than deeds accomplished or power thereof.
Increased wisdom, intelligence, and spiritual power all come with age, generally, so it's easy to draw the conclusion that multiple tails mean an increased amount of power, though, as I stated earlier, I believe it to be more age-oriented.

It's awkward how people are debating over what I have...=.=; That's the only explanation I can think of. I haven't lived more than eighteen years in total now but I have six....

yes, but I'm sure your soul has existed longer than 18 years.

as in what you have debated, or what you 'have' as in hold/own?
because I have tails too, doesn't make me feel awkward that we're talking about different points of view regarding how they're aquired >.>;;

It does for me, because I don't have any explanation for how I have them otherwise. I haven't lived any other lives (outside of my first half-year of existance being at home), and I might be more adept than some kits, but I still get my rump handed to me by the adults. And I have a strong feeling that Inari-sama wouldn't just hand even me tails unless my family worked hard and already had all of theirs.
